Dr. Lulu Sun is a tenured full professor of Engineering Fundamentals Department at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where she has taught since 2006. She received her B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Harbin Engineering University (China) in 1999, and her Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of California, Riverside in 2006, under the supervision of Dr Shankar Mahalingam. Before joining Embry-Riddle, she worked for Arup at Los Angeles office as a fire engineer. Her research interests include second language acquisition in programming languages, flipped classroom, best practices of virtual training delivery, sustainability and entrepreneurship in engineering education. She is a professional member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, a member of the American Society for Engineering Education, and a member of Air Traffic Control Association. She has published over 40 journal and conference articles nationally and internationally.

Dr. Sun presented her poster "Best Practices and Best Methods of Virtual Training Delivery for Air Traffic Controllers" at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference(I/ITSEC) in Orlando, Florida.

Dr. Sun presented “Exploring the Best Practices of Virtual Training Delivery for the Prospective Air Traffic Controller�at 31st National Training Aircraft Symposium (NTAS) in Daytona Beach, Florida on August 13th, 2018. More details can be found at here and was reported by ERAU as well

Congratulations to Haley and Jacob on winning second place student poster award at FAA Center of Excellence (COE) for Technical training and Human Performance (TTHP) at the Year 2 Meeting 2 technical meeting in Philadelphia, PA on April 4th, 2018.

Dr. Sun, as ASEE SE conference site coordinator, successfully organized 2018 ASEE SE conference with over 200 attendees on ERAU campus in Daytona Beach, FL. Her research group also hosted a workshop on Sunday to introduce how to use Second Language Acquisition to facilitate programming language learning.
