Recommendations for making science the most exciting, mind-expanding course in the curriculum:

1.   It is necessary to study hard and continuously.

2.   It helps enormously to have a group of friends to study with all the time.

3.   There can be no falling off of effort to be "made up" later on.

4.   It is "legal," even advisable, to consult another textbook for clarification.

5.   Students should write out their questions about the material to ask in class.

These recommendations were developed by bright, non-science majors when they were asked to take physics and chemistry in order to determine why such a large percentage of students have trouble with freshman science.
