Ideas for an independent study course (PS 399 or PS 499) with

 M. Anthony Reynolds

If you're interested in doing an independent study with me, I would greatly enjoy interacting with you.  However, I have a few rules:

First, you must convince at least one friend to take the course with you.  I know that "independent" means alone, but I have found that more is accomplished and everyone has a better experience if you have at least one partner.
Second, choose a topic.  This has to be up to you.  Since you will be working mostly alone - no lectures to motivate you - it is important that you are studying something that you want to study. If you have an idea (or ideas) come discuss with me the feasibility of turning your idea into a solid independent study.
Third, together we'll choose a book or some articles to give the course some direction.  Below are some topics that have occurred to me.  It is not meant to be an exhaustive list.

1.      Quantum electrodynamics

2.      Currents in magnetosphere

3.      Ferro-electricity

4.     The Earth’smagnetic field dynamo

5.      Feynman

6.      Extraterrestrial Civilization

7.      Solitons

8.      Gravitational lensing

9.      Physics of waves
