If you're
interested in doing an independent study with me, I would
greatly enjoy interacting with you. However, I have a few
rules:
First,
you must convince at least one friend to take the course with
you. I know that "independent" means alone, but I have
found that more is accomplished and everyone has a better
experience if you have at least one partner. Second,
choose a topic. This has to be up to you. Since you
will be working mostly alone - no lectures to motivate you - it
is important that you are studying something that you want to
study. If you have an idea (or ideas) come discuss with me the
feasibility of turning your idea into a solid independent study. Third,
together we'll choose a book or some articles to give the course
some direction. Below are some topics that have occurred
to me. It is not meant to be an exhaustive list.
